A small painting depicting a flower vase. I was inspired to use red backgrounds after revisiting one of my favourite Mattise paintings called 'Red Studio.' Using opposing forms and block colours I play with the likeness of a vase rather than render accurately. These shapes, tending toward abstraction challenge the eye and often toy with interpretation.
