Flash Grenade in Midnight Blue is a study in composition. I was trying to use a restricted colour palette to create high contrast gradients. I’m fascinated by the edge, and union of the two colours—where ecosystems meet. Using shapes and contrast I’m trying to loose myself from the representational; a set idea about how things should be to create a more flowing and expressive picture. The title itself, a curious sentence, mixing a military grade explosive with Miles Davis cool.
